Error on Linux Mint 22.1

Hi, when I attempt to run the meson setup build command it returns this error: meson.build:16:5: ERROR: Command /usr/bin/python3 -c 'import importlib.util; import sys; exit(1) if importlib.util.find_spec('"'"'matplotlib'"'"') is None else exit(0)' failed with status 1. I followed all the instruction from the readme file and I'm kinda stuck now. I also noticed this other guy had the same problem but given that he wrecked his own system I didn't expect him to have any useful answers, lol
Any ideas appreciated, also let me know if you need the full log
