The .gitmodules files are not included in the tarball so Cargo fails with "no such file". Cleaner would be to use `jq` only instead of `jq | grep`, but since .gitmodules appears as part of a larger path in some .cargo-checksum.json, it becomes too complicated. I'm sure upstream will fix it soon and we will then drop the hack.
